How to get to CERN and the Users' Office

Regular CERN shuttle service MEYRIN - AIRPORT (except Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays)
If the shuttle service has no driver available or outside normal working hours you can request a single taxi journey "COURSE DE TAXI A CREDIT".

* Please note that due to road works at the airport, the Circuit 4 shuttle stop is now located between Door 3 and Door 4 of the Departure Zone.  This area is normally reserved for coaches.

For Public Transport, take a free ticket from the machine in the Airport baggage collection hall, on the right side, just before customs control.

If you arrived by train you have to buy a ticket (prize CHF 3.00) at the bus stop.

Whether you arrive from Switzerland or France

  • take the Geneva motorway bypass
    you need to buy a motorway sticker, available at all customs points at a cost of 40 CHF, valid for a full calendar year on Swiss motorways
  • drive as far as the Meyrin exit and then
  • follow signs for Saint-Genis-Pouilly (France), via Meyrin.

Transport of passengers: CERN Shuttle Service

 

All persons entering the CERN site must be in possession of a CERN access cards or a visitor card issued by CERN. Visitors arriving by car must obtain a visitors parking ticket.

Arrival during working hours

Visitor cards and visitors parking tickets are supplied by the security guard on duty at the reception in Bldg. 33 (8.00 a.m. to 17.45 p.m.)
 

Arrival outside CERN working hours and on weekends

Ask the security guard at entrance Meyrin B - Bldg. 533 (Main Entrance of the Meyrin site) for the visitor card and visitors parking ticket which was applied by the CERN guarantors at the following address: external.visitor@cern.ch.
 

Traffic on and between CERN sites

Every person is required to observe the existing traffic rules on and between CERN sites. Regulations and the general speed limits are specified at all CERN entrances.
 

Gate Hours

The CERN hotels located on the CERN site in Switzerland offer various types of short term furnished accommodation. They are open to people connected to the official activities of the Organization. Online booking is available (only with CERN login and password).

 

The Hotel Reception on groundfloor of Bldg. 39 is open as follows:
Mondays to Fridays from 7.30 to 01.00 AM
Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays from 9.00 to 01.00 AM.

 

Outside these times, room keys can be obtained from the security guard on duty at the entrance Meyrin B (Bldg. 533)
