    French cards

    First application
    To apply for the French card please provide to the Users Office:

    The card will be issued within approximately 8-10 weeks.
    The Users Office will notify you about collecting of your French card by email.

    Removals from France to Switzerland and from Switzerland to France:
    Your French card should be returned to the Users Office together with a copy of your passport to be sent back to the authorities for exchange.

    Theft, loss
    In the event of loss or theft, the User completes the declaration available in the Service Portal.

    If lost: the User provides a loss declaration to the Users Office, filled-in in capital letters and duly signed, along with a copy of their passport.

    If stolen: a Police declaration is necessary. The Police declaration should specify the number and date of issue of the stolen card

    Extension
    The User returns their French card to the Users’ Office together with a copy of their passport. A copy of the Swiss card will be necessary for non-Europeans renewing their EF card (French work permit).

    Please note: A colleague can collect your card and bring it for extension.

    Swiss cards

    First application
    To apply for the Swiss card, please provide to the Users Office:

    • passport,
    • D visa (if applicable).

    The card will be issued within approximately 2-3 weeks.
    The Users Office will notify you about collecting of your Swiss card.

    Removals from France to Switzerland and from Switzerland to France:
    Does not require the carte de legitimation to be exchanged.

    Theft, loss
    In the event of loss or theft, the User completes the declaration available in the Service Portal.

    If lost: The User provides a declaration of loss, duly filled and signed, together with the copy of their passport.

    If stolen in Switzerland:

    • Fill in and sign the "Declaration of theft: Swiss cards (in French only)".
    • Send the original declaration to the Commissariat de Police de Genève (address shown on the declaration form), and provide a copy to the Users Office together with the copy of the passport.

    If stolen abroad:

    • Report the theft to the local police authority and send a copy of this declaration to the Users Office.
    • Fill-in and sign the "Declaration of theft: Swiss cards (in French only)", send the original declaration to the Commissariat de Police de Genève (address shown on the declaration form), and provide a copy together with a copy of your passport to the Users Office.

    Extension
    Please return your Swiss card together with a copy of your passport to the Users Office. A new photo is necessary (passport size, hard copy) if the one on the card is older than 4-5 years.

    Please note: A colleague can collect your card and bring it for extension.
