Legitimation documents

Non-European citizens, with a long-term contract and registered with an average presence between 5 and 50 % as well as those with a short-term contract (100 %), must hold a Convention d'accueil.

Only people registered at CERN with an average presence of 55% or more with a contract duration of over 3 months are eligible to receive Swiss and French cards.

Work and residence permits for family members

Under certain conditions, family members (spouse/partner; dependent child-ren) are entitled to receive a French card or a Swiss card.

Green plates

Green-plate registration is limited to vehicles belonging to members of the personnel who hold a special residence permit for France (AT, FI or CD series) issued by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The EF "attestation de fonction" is issued exclusively to members of personnel domiciled in Switzerland and does not allow the registration of a vehicle in France. Members of the personnel who meet the conditions of award enjoy exemption from customs duty and/or tax on new and second-hand vehicles.
